Cambodia sees a rise in tourist number during Khemer New Year

According to a tourism ministry report the number of domestic and foreign tourists visiting the tourists destinations in Cambodia during the Khmer New Year holiday went up from 67 percent to 4.72 million.During the three-day holiday about 4.64 locals travelled within the country which was up 66 percent year-on-year.There was a further increase in international arrivals to 83,123 reflecting a rise of 98 percent.Cambodian Tourism Minister Thong Khon said that the Buddhist pagodas were visited by another 3 million across the national during the traditional New Year which started on April 14 and concluded on April 16.He went on saying that because of peace and political stability people had the freedom to travel freely and fearlessly.Reflecting the Cambodian identity under the shade of peace along with people’s better livelihoods, people happily celebrated the traditional New Year.
