Jewish National Fund USA Launches Virtual Tours to Israel, Registration Ongoing

Jewish National Fund | May 13, 2020

  • The Jewish National Fund USA (JNF), just launched virtual tours, taking people to Israel and showing them iconic places.

  • People buy seats on virtual buses, they have a professional tour guide all via Zoom.

  • Business Bureau consistently award Jewish National Fund with their highest ratings, indicating the organization’s trustworthiness and fiscal responsibility.

Since the stay-at-home orders have been put in place so many of us have canceled our travel plans, domestically and internationally.

In fact, according to the World Tourism Organization, international tourism could decline by 60-80% over the entire year and that means billions of dollars in lost revenue. However, some San Diegans are finding different ways to travel.

The Jewish National Fund USA (JNF), just launched virtual tours, taking people to Israel and showing them iconic places like the Old City of Jerusalem, the Dead Sea and much more.

Here's how it works

People buy seats on virtual buses, they have a professional tour guide all via Zoom. Just last week, a San Diego group finished their five-day virtual trip. JNF board member, Lauren Lizerbram, and her husband Sol, who is the national president of JNF, experienced the virtual trip.

It's really really a fun, exciting, emotional, motivating trip. It was a fabulous idea. It really took off beyond our wildest expectations and, like I said, we have over 700 people signed up. We really want to support these licensed tour guides in Israel

~ Lizerbram

The five-day experience is $50. All of the money goes to the tour guides in Israel who aren't working right now. The virtual tours are an hour a day. Seven hundred people have already registered.

Thales Reinforces its Border & Travel Offer With the New Multimodal Biometric Pod

Thales | December 07, 2022

The new Thales multimodal biometric pod is an efficient enrolment and identification solution that helps smoothly manage travelers’ border and immigration processes. The combination of ‘iris & face’ capture and recognition capacities enables a fast and secure enrolment and ID verification at borders. The pod features a modern design that perfectly suits the authority’s needs in highly secure environments. The travel industry and border security agencies have recognized the need to improve efficiency and overall traveler experience at border entry and exit points. For years, biometrics has been used by authorities to simplify traveler experiences at borders, speeding up people enrolment and ID checks such as the eGates or Entry-Exit Systems. With the Thales multimodal biometric pod, borders authorities can easily integrate automation into their processes, without compromising on passenger and employee security or on the confidentiality of the data exchanged as the solution offers ‘security and privacy by design’ parameters. Featuring a camera and a high-resolution LCD screen, the biometric pod is able to recognise pre-enrolled travelers’ iris and face at a distance of 0.5m and up to 1.5m with excellent accuracy. Boosted by AI, the solution captures dual iris and face in two seconds, leading to swifter operations and visibly shorter wait times . Thales biometric pods can be set at any borders checkpoint (airports, seaports, etc.) managing both the first traveler enrolment upon arrival and quick biometric checks whenever required (upon territory exit, internal flights etc). “The combination of biometric patterns applied to contactless authentication, is a sought-after solution for many stakeholders to address security, operational and convenience challenges. Thales relies on its in-house biometrics, border and smart travel expertise to design, develop and deliver top tier responsible biometric solutions to meet users’ expectations and authorities’ requirements”, -Youzec Kurp, VP Identity and Biometric Solutions at Thales. CNX and New Frontier Announce Strategic Partnership to Leverage Abated Methane Emissions to Transform International Travel

CNX and New Frontier | November 08, 2022

CNX Resources Corporation (NYSE: CNX) and New Frontier Aerospace, Inc. (NFA) announced the companies have entered into an agreement, facilitated by Anew Climate, LLC (Anew Climate), to utilize abated methane emissions to fuel net carbon neutral ground and flight tests of NFA's hypersonic vertical takeoff and landing aircraft. NFA is developing next generation aircraft that can deliver passengers and cargo anywhere on the planet ten times faster than today's jets, while CNX is a leader in capturing and processing methane that would have otherwise vented into the atmosphere, resulting in ultra-low carbon intensity natural gas. The two companies are working towards a path to next generation air travel that is carbon neutral well before the airline industry's 2050 target date. This vision endeavors to bring the world closer together with cargo and passenger flights to any destination on Earth in less than two hours while significantly improving the environmental impact of today's airliners. "Like our recently announced partnerships with Pittsburgh International Airport and Newlight Technologies, this collaboration further demonstrates CNX's unique combination of assets, innovative technologies, and proven operational expertise which is helping to lead the sustainable energy revolution.Through this agreement, we are not only abating methane emissions from being emitted to the atmosphere, but we are also transforming the way people will travel in the future in a faster, more environmentally sustainable manner." -CNX President of New Technologies Ravi Srivastava CNX's carbon negative methane will be sold to New Frontier Aerospace at a premium to conventional natural gas reflecting its low carbon intensity value. The monetary benefit CNX is receiving from NFA for supplying this methane will be used to expand CNX's methane capture program and create more climate benefit in the future. The methane captured by CNX has a carbon intensity comparable to that of environmental attributes from dairy manure-derived renewable natural gas, one of the lowest negative carbon intensity gas resources available. NFA CEO Bill Bruner said, This agreement is a first step in moving from slow, subsonic jets that dump a billion tonnes of CO2 into the atmosphere annually to a fleet of aircraft that are ten times faster with a net carbon negative fuel source. NFA's advanced propulsion, materials, aerothermal, and autonomous flight technologies will enable safe and affordable high-speed travel for everyone while reducing the airline industry's carbon impact to zero. The agreement between CNX and NFA was enabled by Anew Climate, the leading North American marketer of low carbon intensity renewable fuels and provider of comprehensive climate solutions. Alaska Airlines launches first U.S. electronic bag tag program

Alaska Airlines | December 01, 2022

Alaska Airlines became the first U.S. airline to launch an electronic bag tag program, which enables guests to tag their luggage through the airline's mobile app before they even reach the airport. This week, 2,500 Alaska Mileage Plan members will begin receiving their electronic bag tag. Those elite status members included in the first wave of the program are guests who have traveled in the last 12 months, checked-in at least one bag and were among the first to register to use the device."The last thing our guests want to do is stand in line," said Charu Jain, senior vice-president of merchandising and innovation for Alaska. "With the addition of the Alaska Airlines electronic bag tag, our guests can complete almost all of their check-in tasks – from the comfort of their home, at work or on the way to catching their flight." The three-by-five-inch devices are updated with a guest's flight information through the Alaska Airlines mobile app during check-in; essentially allowing travelers to head straight to the bag drop area once they arrive at the airport. The Alaska Airlines electronic bag tag is estimated to reduce the time guests spend in airport lobbies by about 40%, including reducing lines and the use of paper bag tags. In addition to the device's impressive lifespan and durability (Alaska Airlines employees tested it by running it over with a truck), the devices don't require charging or batteries. "We've tested our electronic bag tags on countless flights across the country, including international routes where Alaska Airlines flies, and the devices have performed exactly as they're meant to," said Jain. "We'll collect feedback from our first wave of users before the devices become available to purchase to all our guests early next year." The Alaska Airlines electronic bag tag will be available for purchase to all guests starting in 2023 and will operate on all Alaska Airlines marketed flights operated by Alaska Airlines, Horizon Air and SkyWest Airlines. Along with the hardware, the software for the device is provided by BAGTAG, a Dutch company that is a pioneer in the field of baggage technology solutions. "Alaska Airlines is an excellent example of a carrier on a mission to improve all aspects of their passenger's experience, This vision is leading their choices for innovation such as electronic bag tags and we are very proud to assist them in this project." -Jaspar Quak, BAGTAG managing director Click here to check out how the Alaska Airlines electronic bag tag works and join the notification list when the devices become available for purchase.
