New Travel Company Aims To Disrupt Industry With Unique Platform, Proprietary Technology

nomad.me | October 28, 2021

With the busy holiday travel on the horizon, industry leaders Nick Reid and Todd Copley has recently launched nomad.me, a new travel subscription service poised to disrupt the industry with breakthrough aggregation technology and a zero commission markup model.

Aimed at savvy leisure and business travelers looking to maximize value, the new platform enables members to pay $295 annually to access the company's proprietary technology to book the lowest possible rates – with a savings up to 60% – at over two million hotels, flights, car rentals, cruises and more.

According to Reid – who has worked in every facet of the travel industry, including for such industry leaders as Thai Airways International – this community-based subscription model allows members to exclusively access the company's proprietary aggregation booking engine.

"We are focused on revolutionizing the travel industry with an easier and improved buying experience, offering the best possible pricing because there are no markups or commissions,"

-Nick Reid

Copley, a longtime travel industry executive with expertise in the global tour operator sector, travel product development and international hospitality contracting, says nomad.me dovetails into a growing trend – embracing a membership model accelerated by online perusing during the COVID-19 pandemic.

"With the launch of nomad.me, we are meeting a growing demand with forward thinking technology," he said. "The subscription economy was on the rise before the pandemic but intensified its reach into nearly every industry as the outbreak persisted. This trend is expected to continue."

-Todd Copley

Cirium Launches First Phase of Satellite-Based Aircraft Maintenance Tracking

Cirium | November 24, 2022

Cirium has revealed the aviation industry’s first satellite-based aircraft maintenance tracking feature in its Ascend Profiles module. Its new Ground Events feature enables aircraft and engine manufacturers, maintenance, repair and overhaul service providers, parts suppliers, lessors and insurers to monitor and predict future aircraft maintenance events. This means businesses can better understand when and where an aircraft last had a maintenance event and forecast its next visit. It also helps to identify aircraft transitions and define strategies around how and where maintenance and aftermarket budgets are being allocated by operators or owners. “We are innovators and constantly looking to surface new ideas to empower the aviation industry. By tracking each Ground Event of an airline’s aircraft, we can identify whether it was for redesigned cabins, new aircraft branding, a maintenance event, or for its return to service.” -Jeremy Bowen, CEO at Cirium The first phase of the new Ground Events feature captures all instances when aircraft spend over seven days on the ground and identifies the aircraft registration, airport, arrival date and time, departure date and time, ground event duration (in days) and aircraft age. For specific airlines the feature showcases the types of maintenance activity and the provider. The new feature demonstrates the power of combining Cirium’s unrivaled fleets and advanced satellite-based flight tracking data with the MRO locations and MRO relationships data. In one example, it shows Air France has been redesigning the cabin interiors of all 15 of their Airbus A330 fleet to match the interiors of their A350 aircraft. This reflects the carrier’s focus on enhancing the passenger experience and benefitted the airline when air travel started to return post the COVID-19 lockdowns. All 15 A330s were ready to return to service with the new interiors installed in July 2020. Meanwhile, the feature shows how Lufthansa returned five of their Airbus A340s, which were due for retirement, back into service as the pandemic impacted the deliveries of new aircraft. It further records how the airline partnered with IAC in Dublin to repaint the A340s in the new Lufthansa livery and regular maintenance checks were conducted by Lufthansa Technik Malta, Lufthansa Technik Philippines, and Joramco. Given the increased demand during the pandemic for the shipment of PPE and the rise of ecommerce, Cirium’s Ground Events data shows how Federal Express (FedEx) were able to maximize their fleet and leverage strong relationships with their maintenance provider. FedEx ramped up their cargo flights, utilizing young aircraft – around one-to-eight years old – and maintained a consistent two-year maintenance cycle. The Ground Events feature is part of the Ascend Profiles User Interface (UI) which visualizes aircraft intelligence of airline and lessor profiles and provides quick insights around aircraft types, airport locations, OEMs, MROs and more. The is available as an app and works across desktop, mobile and tablet. Find out more. About Cirium Cirium brings together powerful data and analytics to keep the world moving. Chain of Trust Pilot Completed, using Digital Travel Credentials to facilitate a seamless travel experience

Entrust | September 07, 2022

Entrust has announced the successful conclusion of their participation in the Chain of Trust (CoT) Pilot, a six-month pilot project led by the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA). CoT was tested between September 2021 and March 2022 and facilitated the border clearance of a small group of Canadian volunteer flight crew participants at Toronto Pearson International Airport. The program was operated by the CBSA in collaboration with partners, including Entrust, Face4 Systems, Factor Safe, Air Canada and the Greater Toronto Airport Authority (GTAA)To address increasing travel volumes while maintaining the safety and security of Canada’s border, the CBSA is exploring ways to provide self-service options for travelers and facilitate the free-flow of persons and goods through the international border clearance process. The CoT pilot project tested the use of innovative technology solutions to assess the effectiveness of automating the collection and verification of traveler information and the authentication of travel documents while reducing physical touch-points in the border clearance process. Launched amid pandemic-restricted travel in March 2021, the CoT Pilot was one of the world’s first use of the latest electronic passport technical standards. This technology delivered a high level of security at border crossings and interoperability with existing inspection systems to simplify and speed up passenger processing at busy travel hubs. “The Chain of Trust Pilot was one of the first to offer a real-world look at the future of travel, one that allows border services to focus their attention on higher risk situations and exceptions, and simplifies entry for low-risk travelers, Entrust is pleased to have had the opportunity to collaborate with the Government of Canada and all the partners in the Chain of Trust project. The project has proven its value and deepened our understanding of how digital transformation can evolve global travel.” -Gordon Wilson, Vice President, Identity Verification at Entrust. Demonstrating the Chain of Trust The innovative CoT Pilot allowed volunteer Air Canada flight crew participants to use a smartphone app to expedite re-entry into Canada at the Toronto Pearson International Airport. The program used identity verification technology from Entrust to confirm a traveler’s identity by positively associating them with their uploaded credential. The system leveraged information voluntarily provided in advance of arrival to enable early and continuous risk assessment. Individual participants used their personal mobile device to extract data electronically from their ePassport, create a digital profile, and store it within the secure storage on their device. These data elements were collected to facilitate identifying the individual and the authenticity of their ePassport. A selfie picture was taken and linked to that individual’s CoT app profile for future travel. The traveler’s verified credentials were then submitted to CBSA prior to border crossing. Customs declaration submission and assessment for border clearance were all processed through an orchestration layer. The traveler was guided through each step via personalized notifications sent to their smartphone. Border Services Officers participating in the pilot had visibility into traveler’s arrival status and could process travelers through a mobile app upon arrival in a seamless, touchless manner. The CoT ensures traveler privacy using Privacy by Design principles, and personally identifiable information (PII) is safeguarded through encryption during transmission to the government. No PII has been retained by any non-government project partner. This collaborative initiative was made possible by the Canadian Safety and Security Program (CSSP). Led by Defence Research and Development Canada, in partnership with Public Safety Canada, the CSSP fosters innovative scientific and technological solutions to Canada’s public safety and security challenges. The CBSA will take lessons learned from the CoT pilot project and use knowledge gained to advance its commitment to modernize existing border management policies, programs and technologies to a more efficient, sustainable, and innovative future state.
