Numbers in tourism are up, but the industry remains cautious on the challenges ahead

According to the latest CSO data, from January to May, the number of international visits to Ireland has increased by 3.7% in comparison to the same period in 2018.In spite of the increase, the industry is quite careful on the challenges that lay ahead.Despite numbers being up, the rate of growth for tourism is softening, said Fáilte Irelands director of marketing, Niall Tracey. We must continue to be cautious as there are many challenges on the horizon for the tourism sector. The potential impact of Brexit on our economy is a serious concern for the industry.
