The World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) launched a social media campaign to raise awareness of the social benefits of travel.
The campaign, dubbed “Travel the world. Make a difference,” asks travelers to share stories about the positive social impact the industry makes on people, places and communities dependent upon tourism for their livelihoods.

Affirm and Agoda Enter Partnership

On June 13, payment network Affirm announced a partnership with global travel platform Agoda. Agoda is part of Booking Holdings, the world’s leading online travel and related services provider. This partnership allows eligible travelers to book their hotel stays for upcoming trips across the Agoda platform via app and web. In addition, they can pay over time for bookings exceeding $50. When travelers choose Affirm as a checkout action on Agoda, those eligible can split the total cost of their purchases into either biweekly or monthly payments for as low as 0% APR. Travelers get to see the total cost of their purchase at the time and never have to pay more than the agreed amount upfront. Agoda has integrated Affirm’s Adaptive Checkout to offer customers various payment options to choose from based on their budget and preferences. Eligible travelers also have an option to pay four interest-free biweekly payments and monthly payment options. “We are always looking for innovative ways to help more people access travel, using tech to simplify the search, booking and payment processes,The launch of pay-over-time options with Affirm will enable travelers in North America who might have previously found it inconvenient to pay for their booking in one lump sum to spread the costs over multiple payments without incurring any compound interest or additional costs. CWT Enters into Agreement with Financial Partners to Recapitalize Business as Business Travel Recovery Gains Momentum

CWT, the Business-to-Business-for-Employees travel management platform, announced that it has entered into an agreement with financial stakeholders representing over 90% of the Company’s outstanding debt to recapitalize the business and further strengthen CWT’s financial position as the recovery in business travel continues to gain momentum in key markets around the world. CWT expects to begin soliciting formal approval of the plan from its existing financial stakeholders in the next few weeks and to finalize implementation of the plan later this year. Key terms of the agreement, entered into with financial stakeholder Barings LLC, among others, include: Adding $350 million of new equity capital into the business; Eliminating almost $900 million of debt by replacing CWT’s existing $1.5 billion in debt with new first lien debt of $625 million issued at market rates and a new undrawn revolving credit facility; Providing CWT with substantial long-term liquidity through the resulting balance sheet cash and new revolving credit facility; and Providing for all business partners and other providers of goods and services to CWT to be paid in full.
