The Most Popular Destinations for U.S. Travelers Abroad

According to the National Travel and Tourism Office at the U.S. Department of Commerce, Mexico and Canada were by far the most popular destinations for U.S. resident travelers in 2017, the latest year on record. While 35.1 million U.S. residents visited Mexico in one year, 14.3 million made a trip to Canada. While around a quarter went to Mexico by plane, around a third chose that transport option for traveling to Canada.
