February 14, 2019 / THE JAKARTA POST

The administration of Yogyakarta's Gunung Kidul regency is planning to provide internet access in all the villages in the region, as well as free Wi-Fi access at several tourist attractions. "Three tourist attractions may have free Wi-Fi installed this year. We will coordinate with the Tourism Agency for the installation later," said Kelik Yuniantoro, the head of information services for the Gunung Kidul Communications and Information Agency, as quoted by kompas.com. The agency also plans to install free internet facilities with a 10 megabit-per-second (Mbps) bandwidth capacity in every village hall in Gunung Kidul. However, the supporting facilities, such as signal towers, would be set up by each village. "For the equipment to be provided by the village, it would cost at most about Rp 20 million [US$1,419]. For installation and other things, we will cover them," Kelik said.
