Spring Storm Causing Delays, Cancellations in Northeast

April 16, 2018 / DONALD WOOD

After causing travel headaches across the Midwest this weekend, Winter Storm Xanto is now wreaking havoc Monday on the Northeast. According to Weather.com, the unusual spring storm caused flood warnings in New York City and New Jersey, as well as bringing snow and freezing rain to areas in the Great Lakes and Northeast regions. While the storm is expected to weaken Monday night, meteorologists are calling for heavy rain in parts of the Mid-Atlantic and southern New England, where coastal flooding is also expected to be an issue. Airlines serving the Northeast have issued travel waivers to allow passengers to change their impacted flights without paying the typical fees. Top carries in the United States have waived the fees, including American, Delta, Southwest, United and more. In total, more than 400 flights were canceled in and out of the U.S. Monday, according to FlightAware.com at 10 a.m. ET.
