The United States Sinks Lower In Global Travel Market

Are global travelers losing interest in coming to the United States? It appears that other spots on the globe are luring tourists away from the notion of taking American vacations. The tourism industry is seeing some very mixed messages in 2018. News that the United States is losing its share of the global travel market comes just as the American travel industry is experiencing overall growth. The good news is that travel to and within the United States grew by an impressive 3.4 percent as of May of 2018 when compared to the same month during 2017. This actually marks 101 months of expansion for travel in the United States. Most people who travel to and within the United States do so for leisure purposes. Business travel has also been on the rise. All signs are pointing to the idea that business travel will continue to increase as 2018 goes on. The increase in business travel that has been seen within the last year is likely owed to the fact that businesses are enjoying a newfound sense of optimism when it comes to the nation's economy. The summer of 2018 is expected to be a very robust season for travel.
